SAFARICOM SONGA TVC & PRINT

Did i tell you about that one time i carried 2 camels in one pick up to MAGADI| I DID’T no waaaay…

SO here goes….

A while back i worked on a safaricom TVC mshwari Lock Saving’s Account  and on this particular job it was used as a reference and my heart couldn’t have been happier. If you have watched the commercial then you know what i am talking about, if not then click on the link above.

We were shooting for a new Safaricom APP SONGA, and it meant it had to be a music video with a few of Kenyas top Artist.

We had a dancer Eric, he is a dope!! dope!! dancer and he was in every scene! i still don’t know how he did it, but lets just say HE

Magadi was day one of shoot, i have never been here and i don’t think i will be back until maybe another shoot takes me there… THE HEAT!! waaaa it was like a mini Dadaab/Dubai there…

Anyway, for these Magadi scene i needed 2 camels, seeing as we were shooting a desert  set up. during prep i got a contact for a camel owner near Magadi and we agreed that they  would start walking and get to location on the shoot day, little did i know that he had changed his mind and gone to Kajiado without informing me! i now had 2 days to get 2 camels from NAIROBI to MAGADI come rain or shine. I was in full panic mode and i started calling every place i have ever scene a Camel, and one name kept coming up; Njoroge, he was a camel supplier to most Nairobi Sunday kids hang outs joints. By end of day i had gotten his number and convinced him to transport the Camels a day before to Magadi and they be on set at 4am on shoot day.

The winning Team! #ArtSiteiya

They started the journey from Nairobi at 4pm and arrived Magadi around 9pm, after some car issues.

On shoot day we leave Nairobi around 2am and arrive Magadi about 4:45am, so i start looking for my assistant and a truck and thats when i got the shook of my life…. the two camels had come in ONE PICK UP! and they fit, i literally had no words but to thank God they arrived in one piece.

The Magadi day was hard!tough! and HOT! but we pulled thorough, Thank you Jesus.

The following day we were shooting at Calif, Eastlands this is where we were making the Piano Stairs and some chalk graffiti walls, i met a graffiti artist Nuhu and he is purely magical.

We were shooting with Sauti Sol, Nyashinshki and Mercy Masika.

i would go on and on.. but just watch at end product and tell me what you think in the comment box below:
