Rememeber the really cool person i met when prepping for Mali, but she had to move to another project as me and Dylan continued to work on Mali. Well yes, that awesome person became my very awesome friend, i call her CHELZ. First she just looked up tight, and i was just amazed by how she walked around lifting very heavy things. So on the Wrap day for SHUGA 2, i remember i was at upper hill where we were shooting the Radio station, i was sitted on the pavement watching the team do last scene of Baby in the matatu, i was talking to myself, asking what the hell did i get myself into. First off, we are not pals with Dylan, or the Art assistant then, i had done too many mistakes that had cost the department a whole lot, and i just didn’t think i was cut out for this sh*t. So i sat there and made a decision… If am in this, then am in it to win it, if not then walk away NOW!!. Just then my phone rang, even if i didn’t know her too well i smiled as i picked up the phone. ‘Hey chela’, i was kinda hoping it was something else, like a girls night out or something cooler but no!! it was ART AT IT AGAIN’ (see what i did there), her all excited from the other end asked ” have you wrapped”, i was like am a few minutes to that but dang am so done with this life, she said no no no!!! you have to come, i have booked you on a new project am working on, promise you will love it….after a few seconds of being convinced i gave in… and finally some change came. It was Changes Season 3,another M-Net production (ohhh hold up, Shuga was also an MTV Base project by a south African Production house Bomb Shelter)
I couldnt wait to start, i was all over the place wrapping up a previous set and a 26 episode booklet waiting to be read by me. I met the driver at Muthaiga, the set was somewhere in Muthaiga in a big old mansion (it hosted TPF SS1), and that place needed work!!
