FRAGMENTS by Mutua Matheka

This recap took longer than I expected, but here we are! Back in September 2024, Mutua Matheka came up with a rather wild idea. We started with a meeting to discuss the exhibition, but it quickly evolved into something else—we were now doing an art exhibition!

The Junction Mall Silo was locked, and the biggest challenge was creating a mirror room with a screen on one end that gave the whole room an infinite delay feeling. The biggest challenge was the large mirror, followed by the angles. They needed to be perfect, or the whole thing would fall apart.

I prepared my team because my job had collided with another out-of-town job, and both of them were bursting at the seams. So, another challenge arose: we had to do everything virtually. This wasn’t as bad as I thought, especially since Mutua was such a breath of fresh air and very hands-on (I highly recommend it).

Fragments came to life; the exhibition ran for a few weeks, and luckily, I caught it as soon as I returned to town. OMG, I could have been more blown away.

It was such an honour to work on my second art exhibition by another amazing Kenyan.

I never really got the final images of the art, but I will attach a video where Mutua talks about it.
