Speaking of KRA, i also remembered that i did this Equitel one still with Alison production.
Let i tell you there was a bodaboda scene that needed to be done by a Maasai, i ASSUMED(which is the WORST thing you can do as an Art Director) I ASSUMED that the casting director will go ahead and cast a Maasai already on a bodaboda and can ride one so that he comes with it!!
MY GHAAAAD!SHOCK ON ME, i was on set and ask the casting Director,so ‘Boda yake iko’ he just went like, ‘Is were ndio Art director,’Mimi naleta boda aje?’JESUUUUS!
The producer just gave me an eye i started running towards the road, Mark you we were shooting at Kentmere in Limuru, in the middle of NOWHERE! so i hear a boda coming from one end of the road! I jump in front of him, ask him how much he makes a day, he says, I’m not interested i have another client, i promise to double it, now we are speaking in our native language, i knew he would give in soon and he did so i jumped on top of the boda forgetting my phobia for bikes and we ride to set within 5 mins.
Producer just winked and said ‘Good Job Siteiya, quick thinking.
On top of all that the masaai couldn’t ride the boda! the scene required him to carry his wife, we lost the sunset with him trying not to kill his cast member 🙂 fun times hahahahaha
